Lonely Planet review for E 6th St

The frat-boy brawl that is E 6th St gets started evenings when middle-aged tourists fill the bars; as the night goes on, the crowd gets younger and more raucous than a pig in heat. It's not the best Austin has to offer, but it is something to see.

    Caution is the watch-word

    colonelplink recommends this,

    Old Pecan Street is beset with mushy-headed youth, faux bikers, gang-bangers, and 'roided-up police looking to bust some tail. Go for Sunday brunch at the Iron Cactus or a bartender you know that slings free booze, otherwise save up for New Orleans and do it right.

    6th street is famous for cheesy cover bands and obnoxious dance clubs with music too loud to talk over. But, hey, at least the drinks are overpriced!
