The Alaska Railroad (800-544-0552; www.akrr.com) from Anchorage stops at Talkeetna daily in summer ($82, 3½ hours) and heads north to Denali National Park ($79, four hours) and Fairbanks ($103, 8½ hours). Talkeetna Shuttle Service (907-733-1725, 888-288-6008) has a daily run between Anchorage and Talkeetna ($65, three hours).
