Talkeetna Alaska Hostel International
Lonely Planet review
Popular with climbers and backpackers alike, this well-loved hostel has a converted VW van ($35) you can sleep in as well as a busy dorm, private rooms and makeshift campground on the back lawn. There’s a large common area and kitchen, laundry, free internet, and the occasional fire for swapping tales and fighting the mozzies.
To get here, take 2nd St (the airport road) off Talkeetna Spur Rd; you’ll pass I St on the way to the runway at the end of the road. The hostel is just up the road on the right.
