Lindy in the Park
Sundays swing at the free Lindy-hopping dance party in Golden Gate Park, at the outdoor bandshell between the MH de Young Museum and the California Academy of Sciences (weather permitting). All are welcome; dancers range from first-timers to semiprofessionals, hipsters to grandparents. Free half-hour lessons begin at noon, but you can always just watch or wing it.

Verdi Club
Thursday night’s milonga (Spanish dance) at the Verdi is an eyepopper, with bandoneón (free-reed instrument) players and sharply dressed tango dancers circling the floor. Wear silk or a pencil-thin moustache, and blend right in. Lindy-hoppers take over Tuesday nights. Other nights vary; check the website.
