Does anyone know the schedule or frequency for bus departures from Salto, Uruguay to Concordia, Argentina???
This is what I have for weekday ferry departures: from Salto; 9; 45, 11; 15, 13; 00, 16; 00, 19; 30 Uruguayan time
Also, no departures at all on Sunday.
Anyone know what a taxi should cost, just in case???
During our stay in UR we were not able to withdraw any money from an ATM with our Mastercard ("Maestro", "Cirrus"). Take enough USD for your stay. You can easily exchange them at any Cambio or Bank. Hotels usually accept payment in USD . You can buy bus tickets with credit card. Change your ARS into UYU in Buenos Aires. Even a bad rate in AR will be better than what you get in UR!

Coming from Punta de Diablo by bus you have to tell the driver or the Cobrador, that you want to go to BR. The Cobrador will collect the passports and get the UR exit stamp at the edge of Chuy town. You can stay on the bus.
In Chuy the bus terminal is on the Plaza, where you can an UR Tourist information. (If you have enough time you should visit Fortin San Miguel, about 5 km from town. The bus departs from the Plaza, too)
The border between UR and GR is in the middle of the main street. There are…
I am a father of an adventurous group of kids and we have traveled all over the world. I would like to know if Uruguay is a good place for me and my family to travel to. We have been to Thailand and rode elephants and many other places throughout the world. We can take almost everything with traveling. So if anyone can tell me about it I would love that! Thanks!
I have purchased the bus + ferry Buquebus tickets from Montevideo to Buenos Aires.
At Tres Cruces bus terminal, does anyone know if I need to do anything in particular to check in for the Buquebus bus ride? Do I look for the Buquebus sales desk and show them my printed online confirmation to get paper bus tickets? Will I get my onward ferry tickets to Buenos Aires at the same time?
Also, I will have two luggage cases with me. Do I check them in before I get on the Buquebus bus…
Do you think it's a good idea to have a trip to Uruguay in late April - early May? We would like to have a trip along the coast and visit the capital of course. The problem now is to get cheap tickets from Northern Europe, Finland. But we've been checking deals.
This is the next in my series of South America write-ups.
Standard disclaimer: I only passed through for a couple of weeks so these are just my personal impressions. Hopefully this information will help others as we couldn’t find much current information on Uruguay, the Uruguay chapter in the Argentina Lonely Planet is pretty sparse and this forum doesn’t have too much traffic.
We were in Uruguay for two weeks, and did a fairly standard trip around the coast, from…
Has anybody biked to Casa Pueblo and back to town or knows the terrain along the way? I understand most of the way will be on the orla/rambla, but am worried if we will be forced to share the road with heavy traffic when we get closer to Punta Ballena. The plan is to watch the sunset there, so we'd have to make the return trip at night.
I've researched taking the bus there and back, but according to a few brazilian blogs I've read, it's really easy to get there if you let the driver know…
My husband and I will be arriving in Montevideo early morning 24 December and flying home on 29 December. I am concerned that there may be nothing opened, nothing to do, no restaurants open on the 24th and 25th. Would appreciate any information or advice. Thanks in advance.
