Lonely Planet review

The ersatz Arabian architecture with its arched wooden ceilings feel very Disney-esque, but it's entirely worth a look to see how the enormous Madinat Jumeirah fits together. Outside, abras float by on manmade canals; dozens of al fresco bars and restaurants overlook the scene.

The floorplan is intentionally confusing: the PR people tell us it's to recreate a real souq, but we think it's to keep you trapped and lull you into emptying your wallet at the overpriced shops. It's chaotic on a weekend night; stay away if you don't like crowds.
