Hello,
I plan to visit to Dubai in mid-October.
I hate on-line hotel booking. I see that in Deira there is a bunch of "budget" places listed in hotel search websites, but I expect that there are also many hotels which are still away from on-line booking. Can I get a hotel room easily in Deira in the area of old souks when I arrive there?

Thanks,
Ziggy

Friday Brunches

Hallo All, we are from South Africa so obviously Dubai is pretty expensive for us. I am looking at affordable option for Friday Brunches with Bubbles (does not have to be French). My first choice would be Legends. I see that it is a steakhouse and my one friend is Pescatarian, will she be catered for in terms of vegetarian and seafood??
I am also looking at Asia Asia (pier 7), Fork & Cork (Dubai Palm) and Delphine. Please let me know. Thanks

Insane Dubai layover idea

I have an 8 hour layover in Dubai, from midnight to 8am. Rather than spending this time waiting at the airport, I am thinking of renting a car and doing some night sightseeing... One idea I had was to drive to Nahwa, which would require crossing through the Omani exclave Madha. It's around 100 km and 1.5 hour drive according to Google Maps. Then continuing on to the beach at Murbah, taking a quick swim, then heading back to the airport.

Other ideas include Dhayah Fort, Mleiha, or Al Ain, all…

Hello, we are flying into Dubai on Emirates (one way) on Australian passports arriving at 1.30pm and then have a total separate ticket booked flying out of Dubai to Jordan (with Royal Jordanian) on the next morning at 8am. My question is what is the visa situation and cost for less than 24 hours layover?. We just want to get a cheap hotel and then come back to airport in morning. The airport hotel for a family of four is quite expensive but so potentially would visas if we are required to get…

Hotel/Beach/etc

Hello. I will be heading into Dubai in a few weeks for a week of business. I will have evenings free and a day or two hopefully. On a similar trip to Abu Dhabi I was pleased to find hotels (Yaz Island) where there was a beach within walking distance that both served food and alcohol and was not part of a Beach Resort. A paid public Beach. I was hoping to find a similar situation in Dubai for this stay, but seems unlikely. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would like to be within walking…

We have three people traveling to Dubai October 25 - November 1. We want to take advantage of the Safari tour/Desert camel ride in Abu Dhabi, but the travel site requires a minimum of four people to book a tour. If anyone is traveling during this time and would like to link up with our group, please let me know.

Dubai Transit Visa

Hello,

I'm a Chinese citizen with a US green card. I'll arrive at Dubai Airport by Delta and fly out of Sharjah (SHJ) by Air Arabia three days later. How can I get a transit visa? I did lots of research. It seems the transit visa is not guaranteed on arrival, especially for a single female traveler. Should I just apply for a tourist visa instead? Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Server Working in Dubai

Hi! This might not be the best forum to be asking this question, so if anyone knows of somewhere more suited please let me know :)

I'm Canadian female who is considering escaping our stupid cold winters and finding a serving job overseas in Dubai. I have more than enough experience, but I'm wondering if it would be beneficial to me. From what I've seen from perusing job openings, it seems like lots of places provide plan tickets, accommodation, medical insurance, etc.

Does anyone know if a…
