The 4th edition of our Ukraine guide was published in May 2014. Due to the dramatic changes that have taken place in Ukraine since this book was sent to the printer (the Euromaidan protests and the annexation of Crimea), we have produced a special update for travellers, as an addendum for the guidebook. You can download it here.
This update was written after the author's visit to Ukraine in April 2014 and it includes a new chapter as well as the corrected pages from the guidebook.
I'm an Australia on a bike tour and I'm trying to plan a route. At the moment I'm thinking of catching a ferry from Poli, Georgia, to Ilyichevsk, Ukraine, and I'm wondering about applying for my Ukraine visa. Applying at the Consulate in Australia they say it can take between 15 - 30 days to process... Does anyone have any idea of what it is like to apply for a visa from Georgia and how long the process might take?
I'm from China, and planning to visit Ukraine at the end of this month, and get a VOA at KBP airport. After visit Ukraine, I'm planning to go all the way done to Romania and Bulgaria by coach via Chisinau, Moldova.
My question is that can I apply for a Moldova transit visa in Odessa, and how long does it take to get a visa?
I find no information about apply Moldova visa from Odessa to Bucharest, but only from Bucharest to Odessa.
I entered Ukraine in mid-July, and received a Visa on Arrival (VOA) and thought it might be helpful to fellow Aussies (and New Zealanders) to hear about this process.
Firstly, please don't assume that a VOA in Ukraine is the same as VOA in other countries (such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Egypt etc). It's not available 24 hours a day - it's just open regular office hours, so closes at 6.00pm, or sometimes 7.00pm or 8.00pm. I've also heard that it's often closed on weekends. Do take…
As of Saturday I will enter the Ukraine for my first time, I have met a few Ukrainians, it really wasn't my plan to go but I have heard many good things about the country so now i'm going! I have the whole of September (but unlimited time in the places I really like :)))
I would love if you could:
1) comment on my plans & make any suggestions.
2) Join me at any location or maybe you could host me? :) at any location or even if you cannot host me, maybe we can hang out for a day or…
Hi, I will be in Odessa on a Sunday in mid-Nov & need to get back to Chisinau, Moldova around midday (to catch a flight). Is this feasible by bus? Are there less buses on a Sunday? I can always go back Sat evening but want to maximise my time in Odessa if possible,
I just wanted to say thanks to Maxt and the rest who answered questions for me concerning my trip to Ukraine, you all have been very helpful. I just returned home today and thoroughly enjoyed myself in this wonderful country. The month there (and Romania) was just enough to entice me to return sometime. Thanks much.
I got my visa to Belarus starting on the 19th of October. I am Polish travelling from Poland but wish to visit Ukraine first and then go to Belarus from that country. Are there any trains between Lviv - Pinsk or Kiev - Homel? I am not interested in direct trains from Lviv to Minsk or Kiev to Minsk.
Thought i would provide a recent experience to update. The visa on arrival desk is located just opposite the immigration and upon arrival from Frankfurt on Sunday 1pm there were about 10 or 15 people at various stages of waiting. Some had been waiting since the night before and some the morning. The office closes about 6 or 7 pm or when there doesnt seem to be any more visa-on-arrival people arriving. One man manually enters information into a database and another man takes the passports that…
