Balancing at the end of a long pier and reaching toward the heavens, Odesa looks more like a space shuttle than a hotel. Service is problem free but nothing special and the rooms themselves don't really seem to warrant the elevated rates. Still, it's no doubt a top-end hotel, popular with international businesspeople.
The Odessa's modern, sleek 19-storey building isn't the only thing that's sky high. For this kind of money, you should be in the lap of luxury and although there is nothing wrong with the Odessa as a top-end hotel, it lacks the polish its prices imply. And the rooms, though spacious and completely Western-standard (with robes and slippers, etc.) are hardly exceptional. Anyway, if you're on an expense account (which most visitors seem to be), you'll be quite satisfied. The panorama from the top-floor restaurant is impressive and every room has some kind of sea view. But remember, Odessa is a port city so don't expect unblemished vistas of blue.
