Lonely Planet review

Like the Hotel Rus across the street, the President is perched on a hill over the stadium, which means great views. The service is fine but rooms are so-so, and even though it's central and affords some city views, it's not a great location if you're hoofing it.

From the exterior, the President is 1970s Soviet retro with a splash: bright yellow rounded balconies give the impression the hotel guests have come to see the city of Kyiv as an opera. The ceilings are low, and rooms are dim and small but comfortable. Free Internet access is offered starting with the smallish junior suites, which feature large baths (with bidet). On the plus side, the on-site sauna and pool are free for guests every morning - a great way to start to day.
