Has anyone purchased malaria prevention medication in Kampala/ Entebbe? I would like to purchase in Uganda at the start of our trip. In my home country USA, it is too expensive as I must pay a $300 consultation fee + cost of prescription, multiply this times the number of people in my family. In addition, the travel clinic has no clue which medication is better, they only look it up on websites like WHO or CDC.
I read a recent TT topic that the Yellow Fever vaccine in Entebbe is $40 at airport…

Wanted to let you know that there is a group offering hikes in Echuya Forest between Kisoro and Kabale. Very affordable place to see the rainforest (10pp). It's a very pretty place to hike with some amazing views. They also have a campground but only set up for self sufficient campers. Website is [www.echuya.wordpress.com](www.echuya.wordpress.com ).

Hi Thorntree,

Thanks to many of you here I've worked out an awesome itinerary!

Since we're traveling mostly on public transportation, I left a few "extra" days in between to allow for delays, etc. Where would be the best places to hang out for an extra day? Most people seem to hang out in Fort Portal for a few days at the end, but our last stop in Uganda will be Mgahinga--is there enough to see/do there to hang out for a few days?

I'm not quite sure about arranging transportation in Queen…

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can help me get some clarity about how to best arrange my visa.
I will be travelling to Uganda in June and I probably then proceed to Kenya and maybe Tanzania. My flight back is in three months time from Uganda. My questions are:

1- Would it be better for me to do a) an Eastern Africa Turist visa, plus a single entry visa for Tanzania, b) a multiple entry visa for Uganda, then a single entry for Kenya and for Tanzania, or c) a single entry for Uganda, for Kenya and…

The contested presidential swearing in will take place on Kololo airtrip on May 12. Avoid places nearby.

There are travel restrictions and detours on Entebbe road, count at least 3-4 hours from town to Entebbe these days.

I will be in Kenya and Tanzania next month and was thinking about going to either Rwanda or Uganda to see gorillas and maybe chimps. I dont know much about setting something up, but if we go, we would like to do it on as much of a budget as possible. Is it cheaper to try to get permits on your own, or is it not worth it, and better to just make arrangements with a safari outfitter? If its better through an operator, which do you recommend, and how much was it?
