Lonely Planet review
Red Chilli is very popular with long-term and return guests, and it gets most of the overland truck business. The cottages with lounge, bathroom and kitchen facilities are in the former managers’ quarters of an old soap factory. Recreation options include playing billiards or cooling off in the world’s smallest pool. There’s food available, with a pizza oven and lively bar. Equally popular is the free internet access. Check out the reliable travel information here before moving on and take a look at its bargain three-day Murchison Falls trips. Located off the road to Port Bell, about 6km out of the city centre; to get here take a minibus from the eastern end of Kampala Rd to Bugolobi for USh1000, get off at the Gaz petrol station and take the road up the hill, following signs from there. Take note that Red Chilli is planning to move location to a new site in Butabika, a few kilometres from its current spot – expected to happen early 2013.
