I live in Wallis (not very far from Fiji and Tuvalu) and would like to go Tuvalu in june by plane from Suva (5 days thursday to tuesday)... Would like to see this small island and to know also how the people living there react to the likely disappearance of their country in a few years...Anybody know if except government, there are organizations there which fight against rising waters? Do u know if the people are ready to speak about the issue ? do u think for 5 days, it's interesting to stay…
I am going to spend less than 2 weeks in Tuvalu (Funafuti only) and need some advises. I do have LP guidebook.
Accommodation : Are there budget accommodations available ? I can see few on net but they seem very expensive. Is it possible to stay with local families for a payment ? Also I would like to stay on Funaful Islet (or Funafala) for 2/3 days. So how can I get two-way transfer to Funaful ? And how can I book accommodation there ? Do GH there provide meals, specially veg meals ?
The fee for the boat trip to the conservation area is 200 AUD nowadays for the boat. 30 more if you go on a Saturday. No trip on Sundays.
Anyone with copies from The South Pacific LP, when Tuvalu was still covered by them: The town council in Funafuti still has the cabin on Funafala ( 2 islands south from Funafuti) available for tourists. It is 20 $ per person per night. The boat trip is 150 $ drop and pick up, so when you stay there overnight or a few days it is still 150. Again 30 more if…
Does anyone have updated contact info for hotels / B&Bs on Tuvalu?
The official "Timeless Tuvalu" website is not entirely up to date. I tried contacting the gov officials listed there for updated info, but my emails bounced back. It seems that not even their contact info is current.
In particular, I'm looking for the current e-mails / phone / or fax for Hideaway Guest House and Filamona B&B.
I would like to visit Tuvalu for less than two weeks. I will be having return air ticket on Air pacific (of course) from Fiji.
What is the fee to visit Funafuti conservation area and what are the extra charges for using DSLR camera ?
One more curious Q. Is it possible to visit at least one more island apart from Funafuti considering my two weeks stay ? Even for few hours can be great.
Thanx in advance.
I'm going to Tuvalu in September and planning to do some island hopping by boat between some small islands.
My problem is that I can't find any information about prices, locations or anything!
So, someone who knows how much it costs? Can I get in contact with someone who knows?
Or someone who have done this before who can tell me little about it? :)
Spent ca 3 weeks around Christmas and New Year in this tiny country and thought a few updates may be handy for those considering a trip out there.
The agent for the Tuvalu government's boats in Suva is now Freshet Shipping.
Sailings are every 1-2 (or sometimes 3...) months and schedules are only available once the ship has already left Tuvalu for Fiji (from where it returns quickly).
The Kiribati government's Nei Matangare goes once every 3 months from Fiji to Kiribati via…
I would really need some help with this.
Could someone tell me some average (low) prices of meals and rooms in Tuvalu? I can't find information about it anywhere and I'm in bit of a hurry.
Help me and you make my day! :)
