due to a confusing situation, I'd like to have updated news about getting Turkmen TRANSIT Visa in Mashhad without apply before in Tehran. Is the Turkmen consulate in Mashhad a "reliable" place to get it or is a "lottery"? We are italian couple. Thanks for any reply
I applied for my visa to Turkmenistan at the embassy of Ankara a couple of weeks ago (Swedish passport). I asked to pick it up in Mashhad, Iran, and they told me I should get the visa (if approved) within ten days. A few days ago I received this document from the embassy but I don't quite get what it says. Does it mean that my visa is approved, or is it just a receipt of my application?
If anyone could please help me sort this confusion out I'd be so grateful. I'm soon headed to Iran and…
I've been trying to visit Turkmenistan for a few years now. Visas are not easy. So, used the services of Stan Tours to help out, along with a 2 day trip to the gas crater and a Tajikistan LOI. I got the Tajikistan visa in Ashgabat in about an hour. The trip to the crater was great. Perfect.
Quick response times are important to me. And Stan Tours was great to work with.
We just have returned from an epic journey through Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The name of the person who helped us with the visas, the program and everything else is Artem Gubaev (firstname.lastname@example.org), absolutely amazing guy…very helpful and truly professional. Just a a sample - there was a problem with the Uzbek embassy at the day we had to receive our visas - he figured out what to do and did it in the best possible way, fast and efficiently. Thank you Artem!!!
Very shortly our…
We are planning to do the Mongol Rally this year.
And our travels will bring us trough Turkmenistan, but now the visa company that would arrange our visa's is telling us Turkmenistan is not giving away any transit visa's anymore ?
it this true, are there any options ? or does anybody have a good visa company that can help us ?
I'm thinking about a trip to Turkmenistan during Independence day (October 27th). What are the chances of obtaining a visa for travel to Turkmenistan the week of Independence day?
And would it be possible to watch the military parade? (Suppose not for foreigners)
I planned to go to central Asia by train/bus from Iran to Urumqi. While for Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan the Visas are no problem, Turkmenistan seems very difficult. I really don't want to stay there more than 4 days. So how do I get a Transitvisa for Turkmenistan, when I travel by train and/or bus only? Don't you need to show tickets or is the Visa for the next country just enough?
Is it better to get it at home or in Iran or Istanbul/Ankara?
I'm planning to go to Turkmenistan in September or October. Am I correct in assuming that the transit visa is still only 5 days long and does not allow you to deviate from the most direct route between your entry and exit points?
I will probably be entering from Iran (or possibly Afghanistan, if the situation in and around Herat is safe enough at the time, and if the Turkmen authorities would allow me to do that) leaving into Uzbekistan.
I am wondering whether it makes sense to get a tour: the…
I have another question and put it in a separate thread so it stays more organized. I hope this is ok, otherwise I am fine to merge the two.
1.) Is it advisable to change money (we carry Euro and USD) at the border (we are crossing from Iran to Ashgabat) or are the rates better in the city? We are on a 5 day transit visa and will exit to Usbekistan at Konye Urgench (or close to it), is it possible to change money from Manat to Uzbek Som? if not, how much would we probably need in…
we will be coming into Turkmenistan with our own car (Toyota Landcruiser, built 2001) it is a 4x4 but I have next to zero experience driving in sand. So I wonder whether we would be able to get to the gas crater with our own car or if it would be better to park the car somewhere close to the road. Then we could try to walk (it seems pretty close and we have GPS, lots of water and backup batteries and a tent) or we would try to take a motor bike taxi or whatever transportation is available…
