Uludağ hotels and hostels
Kervansaray Uludag Ski Center
Run by two sisters (and employing only women), this is a good spot for female travellers and it's close by the bustling market.
The central Efehan offers good value, good service and fresh standard (and a handful of family-sized) rooms, equalling the best price-value ratio in downtown Bursa. The top-floor breakfast hall offers good views of the city.
The Güneş has seen better days but remains the only true budget accommodation in Bursa's centre, and is run by a kind family. Rooms are on the small side, though clean (you can choose between those with regular and 'Turkish traditional' toilets).
A decent new arrival towards the western end of Atatürk Caddesi. Rooms are light and fairly spacious, though the dećor's drab and the singles substandard. The communal areas are best, with Ulu Camii views from the breakfast salon.
In a restored Ottoman house, the friendly family-run Güneş is Bursa's best budget pension. The small, neat rooms have new laminate floors, the bathrooms have squat toilets and the walls have tourist-board Turkey photos.
Kitap Evi ('the Book House') is a refreshing change from Bursa's industrial-strength business hotels.
The Safran occupies an elegant restored Ottoman house near the Osman and Orhan tombs, in a historic district.
