On Gözlu Köprüsü

Irgandı Bridge
Crossing the river just north of the Setbaşı road bridge, the Irgandı Bridge has been restored in Ottoman style as a charming dual row of tiny yellow shops, selling handicrafts and other items under their tiled roofs. A couple of little cafés make it a nice spot for a browse and a cuppa.

Cendere Bridge
Some 10km from the Karakuş Tümülüs is a modern bridge over the Cendere River. To the left you'll see a magnificent humpback Roman bridge built in the 2nd century AD. The surviving Latin stelae state that the bridge was built in honour of Emperor Septimius Severus. Of the four original Corinthian columns (two at either end), three are still standing.

Galata Bridge
To experience İstanbul at its most magical, walk across the Galata Bridge at sunset. At this time, the historic Galata Tower is surrounded by shrieking seagulls, the mosques atop the seven hills of the city are silhouetted against a soft red-pink sky, and the evocative scent of apple tobacco wafts out of the nargile cafes under the bridge.
