Lonely Planet review

Marmaris' hilltop castle (1522) was Süleyman the Magnificent's assembly point for 200,000 troops, used to capture Templar-held Rhodes. The castle hosts Marmaris Museum , which exhibits amphorae, glassware, coins and other finds, including from Knidos and Hisarönü. Saunter the castle's walls and gaze down on the bustling marina.
