Trekking Around Fethiye - Kayaköy to Ölü Deniz
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 22 September 2010
The Fethiye weather is still pretending it's summer but we could wait no longer. It's so long since we went for a little hike in the hills surrounding Fethiye that yesterday, we just decided to go for it. It was hot but bearable and we had a lovely time - it was just great to be out walking again. A couple of friends came with us and we took a little picnic because there's a beautiful spot to sit and catch your breath on the trek from Kayaköy to Ölü Deniz.

Kayakoy Ghost Town
Blog: PassportChop.com Travel Blog - Reviews, Travel Experiences - 6 September 2010
Located about 30-minute uphill drive from the coastal town of Fethiye, Kayakoy is one of the must-go places when you are in the region. Unlike many touristy areas, this is where you can really enjoy a quiet trek among many abandoned buildings.

Fethiye's Old Turkish Bath - The Hamam, Paspatur
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 31 August 2010
After 12 years of umming and ahhing about whether I could handle a visit to the hamam, I finally made it to one on Saturday. I went in a sauna in a gym many moons ago and had to leave straight away because I just hated the heat, so I always thought, 'If I pay my cash and then have to leave because the heat is too much, and everyone will see me and it'll be a big fuss, and I'm not keen on massages anyway...' It's taken a friend who was out this week to finally persuade me.

12 Islands Cruise in Fetiye, Turkey
Blog: Vagobond.com - 30 August 2010
I can't say that I recommend Kardesler for the 12 Islands Cruise. Instead, if you want to take a day cruise, I think the way to go is to take the time to walk down the docks and talk with each boat man. Kardasler is the biggest and most touted boat company, virtually every hostel or hotel has a booking deal with them, including Yildirim Pension. They aren't hurting for business and I think that alone has caused their idea of what it means to show customers a good time to change for the worse.

Para-falling
Blog: The Adventures of D - 29 August 2010
I never thought my Bucket List would be my Death Wish. But, early Saturday morning in Fethiye, I nearly died. I should have known better. I had been talking about paragliding in Turkey since I started my trip. It seemed safe — you just run off a cliff and then float over the bluegreen gorgeous [...]

Fethiye – Tourist Trap?
Blog: Vagobond.com - 29 August 2010
Our friend Darren had told us before we left Morocco that the one place we didn't want to miss was Fethiye so despite having quite a few other recommendations from other friends, we decided we wouldn't miss Fethiye. I'm not convinced that it was a terrible place, in fact, it seemed like a very nice place- I just think that maybe having great expectations and coming from our great time in Koycegiz sort of meant Fethiye was destined to be disappointing.

New Fethiye Eating & Drinking Tab
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 17 August 2010
Hooray, hooray, we've finally done it. There's no doubt going to be a few changes to it (I bet we've missed the odd place out) but we've played about with it for long enough. Tonight, it was time to click 'publish post,' and so now, we have a new Fethiye Eating & Drinking tab.

Private Boat Trips In Fethiye - The Bays; Just A Perfect Day
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 2 July 2010
A very busy week last week. When there are friends galore visiting Fethiye and the logistics of meeting up / deciding what to do are getting a bit difficult, there's only one thing to do and that's arrange a boat trip. I wrote about the Göcek market boat trip a while back but the boat trip we did on Tuesday had to be a private one.

Blog: Turkey's For Life - 26 June 2010
This is going to be summer then - there are going to be times when I can't do a post (such as the last two days for instance). A daily post, my original aim for this blog, is impossible sometimes.

Eating & Drinking - The Tents, Çalış Beach
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 7 June 2010
Like us, most of our friends are music lovers and so when they come out to Fethiye to visit us, a night out revolves around the places playing the best music. Of course, Deep Blue Bar is where most evenings are spent (the reason we started going there ten years ago was because we preferred the music to that of the other bars).

A Day Trip To Kayaköy - Kendin Pişir, Kendin Ye!
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 5 June 2010
We live in a beautiful area of Turkey and are very lucky that when we want to go out for the day, we don't have to travel far from Fethiye to reach any number of amazing places. Kayaköy (labelled as the ghost village in tourist brochures) is one such place. We trek to Kayaköy quite often in the cooler months but on Thursday, we went with friends by car. It was the perfect end to our friends' holiday.

Day Trip From Fethiye - Boat Trip To Göcek

Ahh, the famous Fethiye boat trips. I can't write about all of them in one post or else I'll be writing all day and anyone reading this will become either very bored or completely overwhelmed with too much information. Basically, if you want to do one of the public boat trips from Fethiye, there are three different routes to choose from. 12 Islands, Blue Bays and the Göcek Market boat trip.

A Day Out on Ölü Deniz Beach
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 25 May 2010
Hooray, the sun came out in Fethiye yesterday and as we've got a friend out at the moment who loves beaches and sunbathing, we thought it only right to have a beach day at the beautiful Ölü Deniz. May is the best time for us to go there because neither me or Barry are particularly great when it comes to lying in hot sun so yesterday was very bearable - well for an hour at least. We got bored after that and went to the Sea Horse for a drink while Charlotte continued to soak up the rays.
