Lonely Planet review for Yakamoz Restaurant

A pleasant 1km walk from town along the promenade, this is a great place to head for a sunset drink and dinner. It's a traditional Turkish menu and the fish can be pricey, but there's plenty of atmosphere and an attractive outdoor area with big cushions down by the water.

    Yakamoz Sunset

    sammydirect recommends this,

I kicked of my flip flops and settled into a big comfy cushion at the waters edge, enjoying the relief of the refreshing sea breeze on my face. It’s around 8pm in August and, although showered, I’m still hot and sticky, it’s great to find somewhere comfy and cool for a change. I order an ice cold beer served in a frosted glass, and watch as a handful of traditional Turkish gulet boats sail across the bay towards the central marina, about a ten minute walk away. In a matter of moments I watch as the sky transcends from blue to pink, pink to red, and the sun finally says farewell for another day.
Yakamoz Restaurant is a great find, especially at sunset. A fairly modern restaurant found along the seafront promenade as you walk from Fethiye along the coastline to Calis. A local Turkish friend had recommended it,“a great place for a sundowner” he had said, and he wasn’t wrong! The staff were friendly, although a little slow, and the menu a Turkish mix of mezze, lamb dishes and seafood. I opted for soup followed by the waiters suggestion of grilled local fish served with rice, chips and salad. The soup was lovely, lentil or ‘mercimek corba’ appears to be a Turkish staple dish and one I have learnt to love here on my travels. The fish however, although well cooked and tasty, did seem expensive in comparison with other local restaurants, but the al fresco dining and refreshing breeze more than made up for it.
Yakamoz seems a popular place with Turks and foreigners alike. A bunch of ex-pats on the table next to me said it is their regular haunt all year through. The beer is reasonably priced, it’s a great spot to kick back and people watch, and the views of the bay are stunning. All in all, if you are ever in Fethiye, Yakamoz Restaurant is certainly worth a visit.
