Hi-Jazz Bar
This mellow little bar round the corner from Chez Evy has canned (and sometimes live) jazz. It's very friendly and cosy but with no outside space – not one for the height of summer.

Mavi Bar
Conveniently sited at the far end of the main square, the Mavi's permanently packed with people - it was Kaş' favourite when we visited. It plays a good mix of music and has tables outside.

C
Kale Bar
This patio bar attached to the CH Tükevi Hotel may very well command the most spectacular harbour and sea view in all of Antalya. Cocktails are priced accordingly (TL15 to TL22).

Panorama Bar
The Panorama Bar, off 30 Sokak, is more of a permanent fixture and less of a club. Its terrace, though not large, more than justifies the bar's name - it probably boasts the best views in Marmaris. To find it, follow the signs from left of the museum and castle.

Castle Café-Bar
Low-key, affordable, and located close to Kaleiçi's backpacker guesthouses, this is a good place to mix with a younger crowd of Turks than those generally found at bars along the cliff's edge.

Ottoman Dancing Bar
Decorated to the extreme á l'Ottoman, this is a long-time favourite with both locals and travellers who come to drink or smoke a nargileh (water pipe) on the comfy outdoor seating.

Moonlight Bar
Just down from the post office, Kalkan's oldest bar is still its most 'happening', though a good percentage of people sitting at the tables outside – or on the small dance floor inside – are visitors.

Maraş Caddesi
For a drink, head for the point on Maraş Caddesi where it widens slightly. Bars are cheek-by-jowl; choose the most popular one that evening.

Stones Rock Bar
This dance bar with canned music and spectacular views is an excellent pre-club venue and perhaps all you need to reach the tiles.

Mehmet's Bar
This ever-popular booze shack opposite the beach might be better suited to a tropical island than a Turkish promontory. It's decidedly laid-back and ideal for sipping a quiet drink while listening to the surf and reggae music.

Val's Cocktail Bar
Englishwoman Val has been keeping the local expat community well informed and happily quenched for a score of years now. Her cute little bar stocks a mean selection of poison and suitably strong coffee, has a free lending library going with more than 2000 books, and hosts a resident grey parrot.

Moon River
The erstwhile Harry's Bar has reinvented itself as a lounge with türkü (Turkish folk music) most nights. It has very good coffee and drinks are reasonably priced.

Medusa Bar
Laid-back with cushioned benches and walls hung with old photos and posters, the Medusa plays music until the wee hours.
