The limos outside Balıkçı Sabahattın pay testament to its enduring popularity with the city’s establishment, who join hordes of cashed-up tourists in enjoying its limited menu of meze and fish. The food here is excellent, though the service can be harried. You’ll dine in a wooden Ottoman house or under a leafy canopy in the garden. It’s wise to book.

    Good food, bad service and lots of cats

    tiger751023 does not recommend this,

    The food was good, but nothing fantastic at that price. Cats every where and long waiting times to get service. Also sitting in a hill gets to you after a while. We would not go back!

    Balkci Sabahattin restaurant. Poor service, overcrowded,

    We prebooked a table for six. We were pushed to have their choice of starters and sweets. 40% of the main courses were not available. The staff rushed us through the meal e.g. taking plates away when it was obvious the person was still eating. The service was off hand manner bordering on rude. The place was crowded with tables and the stair area full of guests standing up waiting for tables.

    I think the mention of this restaurant in so many guide books has made the owners cavalier towards its guests.

    My advice would be to give it a wide birth.
