Lonely Planet review for Buhara Restaurant & Ocakbaşi
If you’re craving a kebab, this unassuming eatery might be the solution. Management can be gruff and the servings are on the small side, but the quality of the meat is good. You can order an Efes to accompany your meal.

Hi,I just returned from a short trip to Istanbul where I used the LP Istanbul city guidebook. I tried out the eating joints recommended by LP and was happy with all of them except for one really horrible restaurant.
Buhara Restaurant and Ocakbasi - LP said the management were gruff but they were far worse with double charging and bogus charges on the bill and cold appetizer and old/mystery meat.
When we questioned the charges, the guy first took off the bogus charges (yes charges in plural) as if he was doing us a big favor then tried to bully us into paying for the double charged plate by muttering and thumping on the table. Then another waiter playing the "good cop" comes up and explains in English that they may have given us the "big" main plate meant for 2 people by mistake but since we ate it we have to pay. Finally after 15 mins of this BS, we paid a10 TL more than the appropriate amount just to leave this place.
We only went here since next door Sefa was closed by that time. Recommend travellers avoid this place. Totally not worth it since a 30 Turkish Lira total for cold/bad food came to 72 Turkish Lira with their BS accounting.
Good for: absolutely nothing

Gruff? Try Rude and Dishonest!
mfriedman48 does not recommend this,
Asked two people before we stat down if they took VISA. Both said yes. When paying the bill, we are advised that they don't take credit cards. When i confronted them both just stared. Three of our four choices on the menu weren't available. Portions were small. Btw, "We don't have bread" Avoid this place.
