Lonely Planet review for Ayasofya Kebap House

This neighbourhood kebapçı serves lots of tourists, but it also provides plenty of locals with belly fuel. You can grab a table on the street or order to take-away - either way you'll get a perfectly adequate kebap dinner for under YTL10 or a quick lunch of mercımek çorbası (lentil soup) or sulu köfte (meat balls filled with rice and cooked in a tomato-based sauce) for considerably less. You can also order a beer or glass of wine here.

    My favorite kebab restaurant in sultanahmet

    pietrooo recommends this,

    I have been travelling istanbul for 9 years and this Ayasofya kebab house is my favorite place in Sultanahmet town. They have very delicious kebabs especially Mix Kebab beyti kebab and Ali Nazik kebab try one of the these kebabs you would like it. Its not a fancy restaurant its more local place with tasty food.

    I was at this cafe located at Küçük ayasofya cad no:23,Sultanahmet in August 2008.

    The food looked and smelled nice at first - but after an hour I got very sick. I suffered for several hours until I was able to get some medication from my friend (I was out in the city by myself).
    I've eaten outside the cafe - they have tables on the side walk - but when I went inside - especially to the bathroom - I realized I shouldn't have chosen this cafe in the first place. The bathroom was filthy - newspapers on the floor (I guess covering the mess and absorbing water).

    I spent 2 weeks in Turkey prior to the visit to Ayasofya Kebap House and I've eaten in a lot of different places - but nowhere I got sick but at this cafe.

    I do not recommend this place to anyone.
