Lonely Planet review for Havuzlu Restaurant
After a morning spent shopping, many visitors to the Grand Bazaar choose to park their shopping bags at this well-known lokanta. A lovely space with a vaulted ceiling, pale lemon walls and an ornate central light fitting, Havuzlu (named after the small fountain at its entrance) serves up tasty fare to hungry hordes of tourists and shopkeepers – go early when the food is freshest. It also has a clean toilet, something quite rare in the bazaar.

dirkr does not recommend this,
On 4December 2009 my wife an I had lunch at the Havuzlu restaurant. Given the review in the Lonely Planet April (2005) we had high expectations. The atmosphere was nice and peaceful and the restaurant not too packed with tables. The Service was OK although the waiter asked somewhat aggressive for a tip. The real disappointment was the food. As you enter the restaurant there are a limited number of dishes on view and there and then you have to say what you want. No prices are displayed. The setup reminded us of a cafeteria. The big surprise came with the bill. My meat dish was YTL 18, my wife's bean soup YTL 12, rice YTL 6 per serving. We have eaten in a number of other places but nowhere was the bill as high as here. The lack of a menu with prices left us feeling cheated.
