Lonely Planet review for Albura Kathisma

Albura Kathisma is a welcome addition to the otherwise mediocre array of restaurants along Akbıyık Caddesi. Its streetside tables are usually occupied by tourists sampling Turkish dishes such as hünkar beğendi (lamb or beef goulash served on a mound of rich aubergine puree) or mantı (Turkish ravioli topped with yoghurt, tomato and butter). The food is decent, with lots of vegetarian options.

    Albura Not Gooda!

    quipper does not recommend this,

Food lack flavor yet pricey. I absolutely don't recommend this restaurant. It's better to walk a couple of blocks toward Divanyolu cad and try any number of other restaurants around the
    Sultanahmet area.

    Okay Food

    dsturgeon recommends this,

I have mixed feelings about Albura. We went there our first night in Istanbul because it was close to our hotel and had a good enough review in our Lonely Planet book. We were exhausted from our flight and were in no state to go exploring. The food itself was fine. Nothing special, but definitely overpriced (though that seems to be par for the course in Sultanahmet). The decor was quite nice: cozy and elegant.

What I disliked about Albura was their attitude. I think the guys who work there are too young and see this venture as just a big investment opportunity. I was only drinking water that night because I felt dehydrated from the flight and after the third attempt by the waiter to get me to order beer or wine he finally just scoffed and walked away.

In spite of the decent food and nice decor, I ended up leaving the restaurant with a proverbial bad taste in my mouth.

    awesome food

    ssaaiiff recommends this,

Black-and-white floor tiles and turn-of-the century European furnishings give this café next to the Rahmi M. Koç Industrial Museum the feel of a Paris bistro. the Chef turns out superb classic French cuisine, including fillet of turbot with zucchini and tomatoes, and fillet of beef in a red wine sauce. For dessert try the crème brûlée or the soufflé au Grand Marnier with ice cream.
