Lonely Planet review

Over the years Mozaik has built a reputation as the most stylish restaurant in this part of town. Housed in a romantic Ottoman building dating from 1878 and with plenty of streetside tables, it has a huge menu that offers pastas and international dishes but specialises in dishes from different regions of Turkey. There's a great salad selection (perfect for lunch), a good wine list and attentive service.

Try the kara erık yahnısı (black plum and lamb stew) or the kuzu sultan (lamb marinated with thyme and served with a pilaf of rice, lamb liver, cinnamon, pinenuts and raisins).
