Lonely Planet review
Opened in 2008, this uber-stylish ‘design hotel’ is located between the glam shopping district of Nişantaşi and the party precinct along the Bosphorus. Though the setting is historic (the 1890s building housed domestic staff working at Dolmabahçe Palace), the renovation here is unrelentingly modern and highly theatrical. Rooms have good work desks, comfortable beds, iPod docks and fabulous bathrooms with hamam -influenced showers, but are expensive considering their lack of Bosphorus views. There’s an Estee Lauder day spa, a fitness centre, a branch of New York’s Spice Market restaurant and the trés fashionable W Bar. Breakfast costs around €20.
Our independent authors have visited W Istanbul and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Beşiktaş & Ortaköy.
