Lonely Planet review for A'laturca

Style meets substance at this elegant eatery. The menu here has been thoughtfully and creatively designed and the food is exceptionally well prepared. We enjoyed the classic meze selection and were very impressed by the succulent A'laturca-style lamb şiş kebap served on a perfectly cooked ratatouille. Other visits have introduced us to the delights of the chicken şiş kebap and the wickedly rich Kayseri mantısı (ravioli with garlic yoghurt and spices).

The restaurant has a number of eating areas, the most popular of which are the upstairs terrace and the quirky downstairs garden with its brightly coloured beanbag seating. Highly recommended.

    Between Fairy Chimneys

    marissarhines recommends this,

We found fun in a 2000 year-old cave town. Too much fun.

After an animated night at the Flinstone's Cave Bar, I was in dire need of large portions of food and water. Drinking Raki and Long Island Iced teas until sunrise left me wanting anything but kebab for my 2pm breakfast.

Fortunately, my two girlfriends and I stumbled out of our cave hotel and onto the gorgeous, grassy grounds of this two story restaurant. The bean bags on the front lawn and the anything but traditional Turkish menu had us believing we were still slightly impaired.

Sometimes, in our most surreal and emotional travels, it’s nice to have a moment where you don’t feel so far away. A’latruca made us feel at home. If home was in an ancient city, made of rock formations called fairy chimneys, and voted a UNESCO World Heritage site.

So, maybe it was the smoothie the size of my head. Or the regular bread and olive oil served before our meal. Or everything on the menu that we could pronounce with an American/Australian/Canadian accent, but our recovery was definitely aided by the beautiful landscape, the delicious food, and the friendly serving staff.

We got our western-like food fix and headed out for the rug shops and more fun.
