Antique Pool

Lonely Planet review

The sacred pool – nowadays, the separate-ticket swimming pool in the Antique Pool spa's courtyard – has submerged sections of original fluted marble columns to lounge against. The water, which is abundant in minerals and a more-than-balmy at 36 degrees, was thought to have restorative powers in antiquity, and may well still do. In summer, it's busiest from 11am to 4pm. Budget-wary travellers can enjoy the faux-travertines at the public pool at the base of the hill by Pamukkale.
