Both islands have good-value guesthouses and small hotels. Finding a room is seldom a problem, except during Carnival season when reservations should be made far in advance (and rates increase dramatically). Places in Tobago also raise rates during the winter high season (mid December to mid April).

Trinidad and Tobago is less expensive than many places in the Caribbean, so budget options abound (from US$20 a night), especially in the low or shoulder seasons (roughly April to early December).

Each year, the TDCpublishes a small Accommodation Guide and it also features updated listings of B&Bs, guesthouses and hotels on its website. It’s also worth checking the classified sections of local papers, in print and online.

A 10% service charge and a 15% value-added tax (VAT) can add 35% more to your bill. Most advertised accommodations rates include the tax and service charge, but not always.
