Lonely Planet's founder was born in England, but grew up in Pakistan, the West Indies and the USA and has kept on travelling ever since. New York Times Magazine recently called him "the trailblazing Patron saint of the world's backpackers and adventure travellers". Tony has written a number of Lonely Planet books including: Bali & Lombok, Japan, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Paris city guide, and South-East Asia on a Shoestring.
