Dani Valent has worked on more than a dozen guides for Lonely Planet including World Food Turkey, which was nominated for an Andre Simon Memorial Fund Book Award in 2000. These days, Valent is doing less travel writing and lots more bum-wiping and porridge-making for her two young daughters. She lives in Melbourne, Australia where she works as a freelance writer: in an average week, she'll laud - or pan - a restaurant for her weekly review column in The Sunday Age and work on screenplays and other writing projects. As co-author (with Braden King) of the feature film script HERE, Valent attended the Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab in July 2007.
