College was followed by a decade of writing about food, music, film, and art - plus playing in a band and being a rock promoter in Bangkok. He now shuffles between Bali, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Jakarta, Singapore and other Southeast Asian ports of call in search of the most shredding band and perfect bowl of ba mee/pho/khao soi/lahksa/soto ayam.
