After spending time growing up in Southeast Asia, Stirling Silliphant returned to the US to attend college in Santa Cruz, California, where his least favorite question was 'did you make up that name?' College was followed by a decade of writing about food, music, film, and art - plus playing in a band and being a rock promoter in Bangkok. He now shuffles between Bali, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Jakarta, Singapore and other Southeast Asian ports of call in search of the most shredding band and perfect bowl of ba mee/pho/khao soi/lahksa/soto ayam.
