Kate James is a former Lonely Planet editor and the author of Women of the Gobi (Pluto Press, 2006). She was a journalist in Maryborough in the mid-1990s and became convinced one night that a UFO was following her car across the Moolort plain. The flashing light turned out to be her mobile phone's low-battery light, reflected in her windscreen.
