Tom is a native Californian, born in the San Francisco Bay Area. He went to school in Los Angeles, figured out California was not the real world, and vagabonded around the planet with a Vietnamese girl named Fawn. They hit Europe, Asia, New York City, and New Orleans. When Tom and Fawn started having kids, they settled into a flat in San Francisco's Chinatown. Tom is author of Lonely Planet's New Orleans city guide and San Francisco city guide. He has contributed to LP's USA, California and Ireland books.
