Caracol And The Cutest Monkey Ever

Seriously, watch this video, and tell me it’s not absolutely gorgeous.
That’s Jack. Jack is a three month old howler monkey who fell off his mother’s back near the archeological site of Caracol. He was injured in the fall, and one of the wardens from the site nursed him back to health. But by then, of course, his mother wasn’t going to come anywhere near him, so Jack has become a pet, and the dog is his playmate. Best of pals, for the moment anyway, but when Jack becomes a bit bigger it’s going to get interesting!
Anyway, Caracol was most amazing because we had to travel through the jungle in a police convoy to get there. Apparently Guatemalans like to have a quick mooch over the border, rob and kill a few tourists, then hop back home again, so much the richer. So the police are there to protect you, and they don’t mess about. They fly over the crazily bad roads, and you have to keep up. All good fun.
Anyway, here are more pictures of Jack. To be honest, an ancient Mayan site is going to pale in comparison to his extreme cuteness.
