La Patisserie des Reves

PAT.-DE-REVES-1 I was going to wait till my next Sweet Week to share about La Patisserie des Reves but I couldn't live with the guilt of withholding crucial information about a new pastry shop till January.

La Patisserie des Reves (meaning the pastry of dreams) is the new creation of pastry chef Philippe Conticini. His former shop Exceptions Gourmand in the Marais, which I loved, suddenly closed one day without warning. I am glad this talented pastry chef has resurfaced but disappointed that the new shop is not in my neighborhood.

The clever centerpiece of the patisserie is an island with temperature controlled glass domes displaying each pastry work of art individually with a spotlight on it. If you can believe it, I only looked the day I was there taking photos, but without the slightest doubt i will be back to taste the sumptuous goodies like Tarte Tartin with lime Marscapone cream, lemon meringue cake, chocolate and coffee flavored eclairs, St. Honore, and Paris- Brest. Instead of the sales people taking out the cakes from the domes, they come directly from the kitchen when you order.

Sweet dreams are made of this, for sure.
