Using Girona Airport to get to Barcelona

A very common question which comes up is whether of not Girona aiport is any good to fly into for getting to Barcelona. The answers are fairly straight forward, with pros and cons for 
flying into Barcelona International and for flying into Girona airport.
flying into Barcelona International and for flying into Girona airport.Girona airport pros - The main benefit of flying into Girona aiport is that Ryanair fly there and this means for many people budget flight prices. This is the main reason people fly into Girona. There is also always a coach/bus waiting to transport people to downtown Barcelona and the coach fee is relatively low.
Cons - Girona is roughly 50 minutes drive from the centre of Barcelona as opposed to about 25 minutes from Barcelona international. You can often still get good prices flights into the main international airport. Sometimes though Ryanair prices are much much better.
The one problem is that it would be too costly for most people to get a taxi from Girona aiport and for many people this is a very convenient way to get straight to their hotel, after a flight.
Conclusion: Personally I do not worry whether I fly into Girona or Barcelona international. If prices are similar then I would choose Barcelona International. If costs savings are significant then do not be afraid to use Girona.
