A dream came true in 2005 - I travelled on The Ghan to Alice Springs. Gold Kangaroo is everything it is said to be, from the luxurious furnishings to being brought a cup of tea in bed in the morning by attentive staff to the wonderful dinners and gourmet breakfasts. Watching the sunrise over the desert, viewing the red earth as the mighty Ghan snakes its way to Alice Springs station is a magical experience and something you never forget.
