So a bit of a boring day today as like I said, travel plans on the agenda. I’ve got a bit done. More needed tomorrow though.
I just went to the shopping mall next door to pick up some food supplies (dirt cheap too). The rather posh place is ingeniously titled … wait for it … Mall Dova. I bet the fella who came up with that had a rather large smirk on his swede that day.
I’m off out now for some food (and a few cheeky beers no doubt) with the couple from London I was on the bus with and a couple of lads from near Cardiff
We ate at the Beer House and I had barbecue chicken and fried potatoes (though they gave me fries). It was okay but pretty pricey for what it was, I can’t say I’d recommend the place. The home brew beer was nice though.
After that we went to Rock ‘n Roll Cafe which has plenty of rock ‘n roll related stuff all over the walls but strangely played anything but. It was a good wee gaff mind.
Now we’d heard that Chisinau is supposed to be one of Europe big party cities but it was Saturday night and there was hardly anyone about. Eventually we stumbled upon City Club which we stayed until the very early hours.
It was awful really, the people were arrogant Bacardi Breezer advert types with the girls loving themselves, the men all thinking they were Moldovan gangsters (though undoubtedly some actually were) and the bouncers enjoying reminding you of the many rules they had in place. It was also quite expensive (I spent far too much, a couple of el cheapo days needed now) and the music was rubbish. But having said all that it was still a decent night as the people I was with from the hostel were a good laugh, plus the walls looked a bit like the cover for Broken Social
Scene’s eponymously titled album.
I eventually got to bed at 07:00 am, ouch.
The photo is another one from Bran Castle, you wouldn’t want Vlad walking behind you in that passageway would you.
