The spy who shunned me

Okay, DC must officially be the museum capital of the world. There’s ruddy loads of them and they are huge too, you could spend weeks in some of them and still not cover it.

DC is also probably the most tourist heavy place I’ve ever been to, as it was heavy rain for the 1st half of the day this was a dangerous place to be. Umbrellas and numptys in densely packed areas can be deadly, I was nearly decapitated on several occassions and there wasn’t a psycho Chinese-Canadian about as far as I could tell.

I didn’t have time to get to everywhere I wanted but I saw the National Art, Natural History, Native American and Air and Space museums. Van Gogh’s, totem poles, moon buggys and a huge mock blue whale have all been witnessed by me today.

Lastly, I made my way down to the International Spy museum which costs 20 bucks but was told it was full for the day, sorry, come back tomorrow. Strewth.

All was not lost though as I knew the National Crime and Punishment museum was just around the corner and was also around $20. It was ace. I’d spent pretty much 2 and a half hours reading about the Wild West, the Mafia and gruesome serial killers when a guy who worked there told me that I still had about 75% of the museum left and only half an hour, crikey. There were lots of other cool interactive things going on and at the end you’re on the set of ‘America’s most wanted’ so you can see them filming it.

Did you know that the Wild West outlaw Emmet Dalton (of Dalton gang fame) was shot 23 times and still survived, makes ‘Fifty Cent’ (or 2 quarters as I prefer to coin him) look like a bit of a pussy really.

The pic is a from a few days back as I didn’t take many on my phone today. There readers, you have yourselves a genuine Philly cheesesteak. Enjoy.

If I don’t blog tomorrow it’s not because I’m dead (well it might be, but that would be a quite the coincidence not to mention a spot of bad luck). It’s because after watching the City match in the morning I’ll be more or less straight on the bus to New Orleans for a cool 27 hours or so, though I’ll be happy just to get on the thing on time after the debacle last time round.
