Goodbye San Anton. A nice city that I shall return to one day.
I’m at the Greyhound station again now. CHAOS!!! No one seems to know which direction you should be queuing in (there’s a door at either side of the rope) and as I was the first person here 2 lines seem to have sprouted from either side of me, blimey.
We are an hour behind schedule which is no big deal really, but the reason why is pretty interesting; the bus has come via the Mexican border at Loredo and as large amounts of drugs regularly pass through there the bus has been subjected to very stringent security checks.
These stations can actually be a bit depressing, you see a lot of different aspects of the USA underclass and it highlights the things that aren’t so great about the American dream. Though obviously the UK is far from perfect.
I’m on the bus now and I’m really looking forward to getting to Austin for 2 reasons. The 1st one being that I think it will be my sort of town (have heard lots of good things about it) and the 2nd one being that the bus stinks of piss.
In the hostel now, seems pretty good. Though I’ve met 2 of my roomys (maybe the only 2 as the other beds look unoccupied) and I think my arrival has brought the average age of the room down to about 73.
Going to sort my stuff out and then have a lookey what Texas’s capital has to offer. I’m expecting big things on the music front.
