My eagle-eyed colleague Yu-Mei is a great source of info on what’s going on in Korea. She passed on this interesting piece about the restoration of Seoul’s Cheonggye Stream. This revived waterway is indeed a boon to the city and I’ve made a point of diverting to meander along it as I cross town – it’s an instant escape from the urban rush-rush.
In the evenings it’s been remarkable how many people come down here to chill out, dangling their feet in the water like kids in the countryside. There’s also a laser light show on one section that I’ve been meaning to catch.


Another great hi-tech idea is a machine at the start of the stream that allows you to send digital postcards and videograms to your friends and family for free – such as this one:
