Introducing Ocean City
The OC is where you’ll experience the American seaside holiday at its tacky best. Eat a sandy hot dog on the beach, buy a T-shirt with unprintably obscene slogans, drink to excess with students and watch families argue over a round of mini-golf. Extending 2.5 miles from the inlet to 27th St, the boardwalk is the center of action. The visitor center (410-723-8600; 9am-5pm) and local hotel-motel-restaurant association (410-289-6733; www.ocvisitor.com), in the convention center on Coastal Hwy at 40th St, can help you find lodging. Many establishments are only open during temperate months; prices plummet off-season. Traffic is jammed and parking scarce in summer.
