This jacket is nice for getting around the town in the rain but I'm not sure I'd trust this one on a backpacking trip. It's not nearly as well-built as the high-end Northface Gore-Tex jackets that Northface is known for.

I'm 6' and 155 lbs and I got a medium in this jacket and it fit perfect. In my opinion the hood is not large but a perfect size. What I like about the jacket is that it's simple. I wanted a jacket without all the bells and whistles and this jacket lived up to that. It packs down and keeps me dry. Wonderful piece of gear.
