Natural light show, Hafnarfjörður, Iceland

Story behind the picture

“I think it’s a shame if people live next to a phenomenon and don’t take the time to see it so I head out of town every evening to hunt for aurora borealis. This was one of the final shots I took that night. The yellow light in the right of the picture that looks like a sunrise is ambient light coming from Hafnarfjörður town, near Reykjavík. These aurorae were quite weak, so they didn’t move much and looked like a green cloud to the naked eye. All was quiet and still – it was such a calm moment.” We’d love to include your best new travel photos (at 300dpi) and the inspiring stories behind them. Send them with a pic of yourself to postcards@lptraveller.co.uk
