Seoul Buildings – Architecture as Art

Kring Gumho
▲ Our Korea guidebook has a section on Architecture as Art in the Seoul chapter. Featuring the Kring Gumho Culture Complex ‘looking like a giant music speaker crossed with a slab of Swiss cheese.’ (Unsangdong Architects)

I'Park Tower
▲ Just down the road is the I’Park Tower (Tangent building), ‘reminscent of a painting by Kandinsky.' (Daniel Libeskind and Himma)

I'Park by Night◄ The same building at night.

The Horim Art Centre ‘was inspired by pottery and inside the lustrous walls is a museum devoted to this Korean art form.’  ▼

Horim Art CentreThis was an interesting example of form over function, I could not find an entrance to the museum. Eventually I gave up, but then found my way in when I used the toilets from the adjacent coffee shop and discovered they were shared with the museum. No wonder Maureen and I were the only museum visitors. (Tehje Architecture Office)
