The Wall - Israel & Palestine

The Wall 06
▲ The Wall at the Qalandia checkpoint between Ramallah and East Jerusalem

The Wall 03◄ Travelling around Palestine you certainly don’t get away from the Israeli settlements or The Wall – aka the Security Wall, the Separation Wall, the Segregation Wall or the Apartheid Wall, depending on how you look at it.

The Wall 07
▲ Lining up to enter the Qalandia checkpoint. The Arabic script at the top probably doesn’t say ‘you’re shit and we’re treating you like shit.’ But it might as well, lining up with Palestinians to cross to Jerusalem feels like lining up to be humiliated. Sure it’s just like an airport security check when you finally arrive at the X-ray machine, but it feels more like processing cattle than human beings. Click here to read an American journalist's account of his regular crossings through the Qalandia checkpoint.

The Wall 01
▲ The images that follow are all at the Qalandia checkpoint between Ramallah and East Jerusalem or the Bethlehem checkpoint to Jerusalem. Of course they’re on the Palestinian side of the wall, the Israeli side is more likely to be squeaky clean.
