Time Travels in Southeast Asia
Brian Thacker has written a bunch of books (check his website for the full story) and is currently working on a new one, following my original trail around Southeast Asia. It’s been 34 years since Maureen and I spent a year exploring the region to write the very first edition of Southeast Asia on a Shoestring. Last month in Bali I rented a motor scooter and joined Brian on a little excursion from Ubud, up the slopes of the Mt Batur volcano. Back in 1974 I’d written up a five day motorcycle circuit of Bali and remarkably Brian and I managed to find the same losmen (a small Indonesian hotel) where we’d stayed all those years ago.
