Jack Kerouac

Jack Kerouac

Made a little pilgrimage during my recent New England visit – to Lowell, Massachusetts, birthplace of On the Road author Jack Kerouac. He’s buried there as well. To make it a proper writers’ trip I went along with Rolf Potts (Vagabonding) and Jeff Greenwald (Size of the World, Shopping for Buddhas). Jeff blogged his tale of our road trip.

At the JK memorial

Rolf Potts, me, Jeff Greenwald, at the Jack Kerouac Commemorative

Apart from the Jack Kerouac Commemorative, the marble-columned memorial close to the town centre, we also searched out his birthplace (9 Lupine St, there’s a plaque on the front of the house) and his grave (between 7th and 8th Sts in the very sprawling Edson Cemetery).
